  1. Hi there I am assuming we can use this space to ask questions about Blackboard as well?
I have done workshop 1, will do workshop 2 soon. Was playing aroudn and am confused about what the difference is beteen an item and learning module? Im looking for the best format to use for one class in a module. During the workshop I thought I'd go for an item, but now I'm thinking 'learming module'...Any tips? I was also wondering whether it might be possible to seen an example of someone who already put a module on the HUB. I think that would be very helpful.

  2. We do cover Learning Modules in Workshop 2 so you should get a better idea of how they work then. Essentially, Content Items allow you to create an extended description about a topic and you can attach multiple associated files and / or weblinks and images to that item.

The main benefit of Learning Modules is that you can structure a lot of material (either on the same topic or different topics) using a table of contents - so you could have multiple files and other course links structured in a sequential way if you wanted to direct your students to study materials in a particular order - although that order does not need to be enforced.

Both Content Items and Learning Modules have different advantages and it is actually possible to build your Learning Modules out of Content Items which could perhaps utilise the benefits of both. I think once you have been to workshop 2 you may have a clearer idea of how you could use these yourself.

We don't have a generally available demo module but this is something that we may look into.

    1. Thanks! I actually meant to say 'lesson plan' instead of learning module...will that be covered in workshop 2 as well?

    2. We don't cover "lesson plans" in any of the workshops - but this is because of time restraints in what we can cover rather than having anything against the tool. If you are interested in using lesson plans this video may help: http://ondemand.blackboard.com/r91/movies/bb91_lesson_plans_create_lesson_plan.htm
